Rendered Rare

Some talk of Alexander and some of Hercules,

Of Hector and Lysander and such great names as these;

But of all the world's brave heroes are there any to compare

With black and white striped Mariners who render memories rare?

I speak of Wright and Taylor; of Clifton, Tees and Hill;

Of Jobling, Knights and Foster; Dick Young and Cockerill;

Of Pennington and Portwood; of Thompson and McLean;

The first that I remember; they play yet, in my dreams.
